The Memorial Tournament (May 30th – June 5th 2011)

As we approach the Memorial Tournament, the OLIG would like to remind lobbyists and their clients as well as Legislators and staff of the following reporting guidelines:

  • Tickets for the Practice Rounds Monday, May 30 – Wednesday, June 1, 2011 are $30 and are valid for all three days.   A Recipient who accepts and uses a day pass for one of these days has not received a reportable expenditure, as the daily amount is less than $25.
  • Weekly patron badges are available for $155, grounds admission only, or $235 for the Clubhouse Badge, which provides admission to the Clubhouse and grounds.   These two badges have a daily value of $31.25 and $51.25 for each of the four days of tournament play.  A member or financial disclosure statement filer who accepts one of these badges should be reported as the recipient according to the grid below.

  • The value of a ticket provided to a Legislator’s spouse or family member is attributable to the Legislator, if the spouse or family member is receiving the ticket because he or she is the spouse or family member of the Legislator.  In this circumstance the amount of the ticket for the spouse or family member must be added to the amount, if any, of the ticket provided to the Legislator.
  • A Financial Disclosure Statement filer who accepts a ticket(s) to the Memorial Tournament valued at over $75, must report the source of the gift on their 2011 financial disclosure statement.
  • A Member or employee is prohibited from accepting more than $75 in gift(s), aggregated per year, from a legislative lobbyist.
  • A Member or employee is prohibited from accepting more than $75 in food and beverages, aggregated per year, from a legislative lobbyist.
  • A Ticket(s) to the Memorial Tournament provided to a Financial Disclosure Statement filer by a lobbyist or a lobbying client should be reported in the gifts section of the May – August 2011 Activity & Expenditure Report.
  • Meals and beverages provided at a hospitality tent can be reported in the Meals <$50 category on a lobbyist’s May – August 2011 Activity & Expenditure Report.
  • Meals or beverages consumed at a hospitality tent will not trigger reporting for Legislative Financial Disclosure Statement filers.
