Post Employment Disclosure

On February 15, 2005, Governor Taft signed Amended Sub. H.B. 181 (125th General Assembly) into law. Effective May 18, 2005, Ohio law requires former state elected officers and specified staff members to disclose to the Joint Legislative Ethics Committee (JLEC), through the Office of the Legislative Inspector General, certain information for a 24-month period after leaving public service or public employment. Please see Ohio Revised Code sections 101.34, 102.01, .102.02, 102.031, 102.06 and 102.99 as amended and 102.021 as enacted by H.B. 181

HB 181 requires each state elected officer or staff member who filed or was required to file a financial disclosure statement under the Ethics Law and who leaves public service or public employment to file an Initial Post Employment Disclosure Statement not later than the day on which the former state elected officer or staff member leaves public service or public employment. The Initial Post Employment Disclosure Statement must specify whether the person will, or will not, receive any income from:

If a person files an Initial Post Employment Disclosure Statement that indactes that the person will receive income from a source described above, the person is required to file a Post Employment Expenditure Disclosure Statement three times per calendar year for a twenty-four month period.

If you are a current PED filer with a Qualifying Source of Income: you must file an Updated Post Employment Disclosure Statement with this office three times annually; due May 31, September 30, and January 31 of each each year.
